How to apply 3M 4200 Fast Cure Marine Sealant?
-
Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Light abrasion with 180- to 200-grit sandpaper can enhance adhesion.
-
Application: Cut the nozzle to the desired bead size, puncture the seal, and apply the sealant using a caulking gun. Position parts promptly and tool the sealant to the desired finish using a suitable tool or gloved finger.
-
Cleanup: Remove excess sealant with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner 08984 or a compatible solvent. Avoid using alcohol-based cleaners, as they can interfere with the curing process.
Note: For certain substrates or conditions, a primer may be recommended to enhance adhesion and durability. Consult 3M Technical Service for specific recommendations.
